Guidelines & Policies

At the James Family Prescott YMCA, members and guests have the opportunity to explore, experience, and enjoy everything we offer.

To maintain a secure and comfortable environment for all, we ask everyone to please follow all established guidelines and policies for equipment, facilities, and property. If you have specific questions, our team at the Membership Desk will be happy to assist you.

Kids at the Y

There is nothing we love more than watching kids develop new friendships and discover their passion for sports and healthy activities. That being said, we kindly remind parents that the YMCA is not a “drop off center". No one, regardless of age, should be left at the Y for extended periods of time unless they are enrolled in a specific program. In addition, any child 12 years of age and under must be supervised and accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older (other than an employee of the Y) at all times and in all areas of the facility.

Accidents

The YMCA is not responsible for any accidents. All individuals participate at their own risk. A Waiver of Liability must be signed and kept on file at the Membership Desk. Please immediately report any accident or emergency to the Membership Desk. Staff are trained to assist in emergency situations.

Breastfeeding

In Arizona, a mother is entitled to breastfeed her child in public, and is not subject to indecent exposure laws, per Arizona Revised Statutes 41-1443 and 13-1402.

Cell Phones & Recording Devices

Multimedia devices, including tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles, and recording equipment, are not allowed in program areas, unless for music and game purposes only. For the comfort of others, talking on cell phones is prohibited in program areas. Please make and take calls in the lobby area.

Mobile devices and photographic/videographic equipment of any kind are not permitted in the restrooms or locker rooms at any time. Photographing and/or recording other members, participants, or families is not permitted in any YMCA facility at any time. Violation of this policy can result in termination of membership.

Food & Beverage

Food and drink are not permitted beyond the lobby, except water in plastic containers.

Locker Use & Valuables

Lockers are available for day use by members and guests. We strongly recommend that you do not bring valuables into the facility and that you always secure your belongings. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

The handicap-accessible family changing rooms are for YMCA members and guests who are accompanying small children or others needing assistance.

Photo Identification

All members are required to present a valid membership card for identification or photo ID when using the YMCA facilities and programs. Membership privileges and cards are not transferable, remain the property of the YMCA, and must be returned upon request.

At the James Family Prescott YMCA, we demonstrate Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility by:

  • Refraining from the use of vulgar and derogatory language.

Smoking, Alcohol & Drug Use

The James Family Prescott YMCA is a family-oriented facility. Please refrain from using tobacco, electronic tobacco products, drugs, or alcohol on the premises. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sex Offender & Criminal Background Checks

The YMCA monitors the sexual offender registry to ensure a safe and threat free environment for our members and guests. If a match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access. Individuals on this list will not be eligible for YMCA membership, program participation, volunteer, or employment opportunities with this YMCA. The YMCA reserves the right to perform background checks on its members. Registered sex offenders and those individuals with any criminal conviction for an act that is contrary to the YMCA values and mission may not be eligible to hold membership.

The YMCA reserves the right to deny and/or terminate access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse; is a registered sex offender; or who has demonstrated unlawful conduct that may be conceived as a threat to the wellbeing of members and guests.

Third Party Trainers & Instructors

Third party individuals acting as trainers and/or instructors are not permitted on YMCA property due to licensing and liability concerns. Please consult YMCA professionals for your training and/or lessons.
